The Greatest Friend The sun has set and after 55 years of loyal friendship, it has taken my dearest pal Bob with it. More like a brother than a friend, a man I could admire for his uncompromising spirit, integrity, honesty, trustworthiness, fun and laughter and practical joking, all with a quiet demeanour. A practical joker who laughed quietly while others were caught out – the ‘sneezing powder’ in the Prince of Wales a classic. He was a loving, caring, family man amongst many other attributes and it was an honour for me to have known him and be in his company for so many years. I could write a book of all the happy times we spent together, whether drinking, dancing, partying, playing sport and holidaying together with our families. A true friend above all others who I will miss profoundly but left with wonderful memories to be treasured of our fun times together whether on our own or with Jan and Brenda. He was always ready to help others no matter what the problem was and would give up his time willingly. He could always be relied upon and was unselfish in his manner. Thank you my dear pal, Bob, for being the best friend a man could have. I will sadly miss our drinking and happy times or just being with you – ‘cheers’ to you Bob. Peter
